A weekend away in Queenstown isn't complete without taking in the views and what better way to work off all the Ferg Burger you've been eating than a stroll through the hills? Check out our top 5 day walks below and if you've done any of them, use #JUCYWORLD to show us on Instagram!
Looking for a little bit of a challenge? Get those legs pumping and head towards the 'Basket of Dreams'. This is a sculpture upon Queenstown Hill and a favourite local spot to check out the view. The walk is about three hours and you'll be treated to views of Wakatipu Basin and Queenstown Bay.
The Queenstown Hill walking track starts from Belfast Terrace up behind the centre of town.
If you're after a quick fix and the best view of Queenstown, do the Tiki Trail. The trail starts at the bottom of the gondola and makes its way towards a lookout at the top. It takes about one hour to hike to the top, and the trail mostly passes through pine trees and Douglas Fir. It's not the best nature trail as you won't see many native New Zealand trees, but the views from the top are outstanding. Stop for a bite to eat and slowly make your way back down, or hop on the gondola if you're feeling worn out.
The start point for the Tiki Trail is at the end of Brecon Street, near the gondola station.
Head out towards Glenorchy on the Sunshine Bay track. This is a gentle lakeside walk with views to Cecil and Walter Peaks. You'll be walking through native bush to the Sunshine Bay jetty. There’s also a side-track that leads to a waterfall at Two Mile Creek Falls if you're left wanting more!
This track starts about one kilometre past the Fernhill roundabout and takes 45 minutes.
If you're on the lookout for a quick hike, check out Tobin's Track. This walk heads towards the edge of the Crown Terrace above Arrowtown and treats visitors to views of Lake Hayes and the Remarkables. Locals use it as a quick workout spot so don't be surprised if you see someone speeding past you on a jog!
The track starts at the end of Ford Street and takes about 30 minutes each way.
Arrowtown is lovely - walk along the river and amongst the trees before enjoying a local coffee, or a pint of cider in the sunshine. Then check out the Arrow River Trail to see more of the area. A walk along the Arrow River is a picturesque wander with views of gullies and waterfalls, plus several footbridge crossings. The Arrow River Trail starts towards the west of Arrowtown at the end of Buckingham Street. From there, follow the large irrigation pipeline along the river, past the turnoff to Sawpit Gully, and to a footbridge that leads to Macetown. Visitors can cross the bridge and walk back along the Macetown track or retrace their steps and go back the way they came.
