Ana’s Story
Ana is 16 and has been tackling chronic leukemia. After undergoing treatment and spending so much time recovering in the hospital, Ana’s wish was to go on an awesome family holiday to Christchurch. JUCY hooked Ana and her family up with a sweet ride so that they could travel to Christchurch, with a pit stop in Kaikōura for some epic whale watching!
Ana had an amazing time on her trip andher mum, Grace, said the trip was unforgettable. “From watching whales, to riding the tram and gondola, and climbing Mount Sunday, every moment was special. Thanks for making Ana’s wish a reality.”
Addison's Story
15-year-old Addison, who bravely fought through tough lymphoma treatments, had one big dream: a family vacay on the Gold Coast.
This trip meant so much to Addison and her family as her brother moved to Melbourne shortly after Addison finished her treatments, and the trip would allow them to all be reunited. “They're super close– he was her rock during her treatments, keeping her spirits high with laughs. Solife’s been a bit tougher for her since he left, even after going into remission,” says Esther, Addison’s mum.
Make-A-Wish NZ organised an unforgettable trip for the family, flying them from New Zealand to Brisbane to be surprised by her brother Aidan. JUCY provided a car to be picked up in Brisbane, so the family could hit up the theme parks, zoos, and soak up the best of the Gold Coast.
Esther says this wish had a huge impact on Addison and her family. “The wish experience enabled us to get together and celebrate Addison, how courageous she has been, and how special she is to us. It really allowed us to bring closure to Addison’s cancer experience in such a positive light.”
